Road signs in Québec
A Photo Gallery by Martin Durocher Home Français

In Quebec, contrary to the majority of the other provinces and American states you will not find old road shields because, during the Seventies, all the roads have been renumbered .

However, during this renumbering operation old shields were re-used to manufacture the new shields. The technique consisted in applying the new number on the back of the old shields, the old black number on white background was painted thereafter in gray. But, with time, paint slowly disappeared and the old numbers reappeared! This page shows pictures of these shields, increasingly rare and not yet replaced.
